RTI1092769 is a peripherally selective, pyrazole-based weak inverse agonist/antagonist of the type 1 cannabinoid receptor (CB1). It is designed to have very limited brain exposure, thereby reducing the risk of central nervous system side effects associated with earlier CB1 antagonists. In preclinical studies, RTI1092769 inhibited weight gain and improved glucose utilization in obese mice on a high-fat diet. The compound also reduced hepatic triglyceride content and steatosis, with improvements in biomarkers linked to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). These findings support its potential for treating metabolic syndrome and related conditions such as obesity and NAFLD[1][2][3][4][5].
