Overview

RTR888 is an induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived microglial progenitor cell therapy being developed by Retro Biosciences (Retrograde Investments). The program is designed to address age-related neurodegeneration by replacing or augmenting dysfunctional, chronically inflammatory microglia with younger, functional microglial progenitors. Microglia serve as the resident immune cells of the central nervous system, and their age-related dysfunction is considered a fundamental driver of various neurodegenerative conditions. By transplanting healthy, iPSC-derived progenitors, RTR888 aims to restore homeostatic microglial function, reduce neuroinflammation, and extend human healthspan. The therapy is currently in the preclinical stage of development for various CNS conditions.
