Drug intelligence / Profile preview
rTV boost (recombinant vaccinia virus Tiantan boost) is a replication-competent viral vector vaccine candidate developed by the National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention (China CDC) in collaboration with the National Vaccine and Serum Institute. It utilizes the Tiantan strain of vaccinia virus, which has a well-established safety profile from its historical use in China's smallpox eradication campaigns. The vector is engineered to express HIV-1 antigens, typically including Env, Gag, and Pol from CRF07_BC or CN54 strains. In clinical trials, rTV boost is evaluated as the booster component of a heterologous DNA prime-rTV boost regimen designed to elicit robust and durable HIV-1-specific humoral and cellular immune responses for the prevention of HIV infection.
