Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ruanjian Tongmai Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound formulation primarily indicated for the treatment of atherosclerosis, carotid artery plaque, and hyperlipidemia. It operates through the TCM principles of softening hardness (Ruanjian) and dredging the meridians or pulses (Tongmai) to resolve phlegm and blood stasis. The formulation typically contains a complex mixture of herbal ingredients, including Concha Ostreae, Salvia miltiorrhiza, and Astragalus membranaceus. Pharmacologically, it is thought to inhibit inflammatory responses, regulate lipid metabolism, and stabilize or reduce atherosclerotic plaques by modulating pathways related to oxidative stress and vascular endothelial function. It is frequently utilized in clinical settings in China to prevent and treat ischemic cerebrovascular diseases and is often produced as a hospital preparation.
