Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ruanmaijian is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction developed by the Affiliated Longhua Hospital of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specifically designed for the treatment of atherosclerosis and carotid plaque. The formula is rooted in the TCM principle of tonifying the kidney and resolving phlegm and stasis. It aims to reduce the progression of atherosclerotic lesions by regulating lipid metabolism, exerting anti-inflammatory effects, and stabilizing vulnerable plaques. Research suggests its mechanism involves the inhibition of the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway and the promotion of autophagy in macrophages, thereby reducing foam cell formation and inflammatory cytokine release. It is primarily used as a hospital preparation for patients with carotid atherosclerosis and related cardiovascular conditions.
