Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rubber Shengji Paste (Xiangpi Shengji Gao) is a specialized hospital-made traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation developed by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic, non-healing wounds, most notably diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). The paste is formulated based on TCM principles of promoting tissue regeneration (Shengji) and draining toxins. Its pharmacological effects include the modulation of the wound microenvironment, reduction of inflammatory cytokines, and the stimulation of essential growth factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1), which are critical for angiogenesis and the maturation of granulation tissue. It is widely used in clinical settings in China as a topical intervention for patients with complex diabetic complications.
