Overview

**RuBCG** is a preclinical fixed-dose combination of Theralase's ruthenium-based light-activated small molecule Ruvidar and live attenuated *Mycobacterium bovis* Bacillus Calmette-Guérin. It is being developed for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. In cell-based bladder-cancer experiments, Ruvidar reversed the normally negative surface charge of BCG, which is intended to increase BCG adhesion to and uptake by negatively charged bladder cancer cells, thereby enhancing cancer-cell killing relative to either component alone without light activation. The formulation was also reported to reduce PD-L1 expression, potentially increasing tumor immunogenicity. ([theralase.com](https://theralase.com/ruvidar-enhances-efficacy-of-cancer-drug/))
