rufinamide

Rufinamide is a triazole derivative anticonvulsant used as adjunctive therapy to control seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), a severe form of childhood-onset epilepsy. It acts primarily by modulating voltage-gated sodium channels in the brain, prolonging their inactive state and stabilizing neuronal membranes to prevent the spread of seizure activity. At higher concentrations, it may also inhibit metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5), reducing glutamate production. Rufinamide is available as oral tablets and suspension and is typically used alongside other antiepileptic drugs[1][3][4][5].
