Rui Xiulin

Tonghua Dongbao's insulin aspart (marketed as Rui Xiulin) is a rapid-acting recombinant human insulin analogue biosimilar to Novo Nordisk's NovoRapid. It is produced using a yeast expression system. Insulin aspart differs from human insulin by the substitution of the amino acid proline with aspartic acid at position B28, which reduces hexamer formation and allows for faster absorption and a quicker onset of action following subcutaneous injection. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control. The drug works by binding to the insulin receptor, which stimulates glucose uptake into peripheral tissues (especially skeletal muscle and fat) and inhibits hepatic glucose production.
