Overview
RUNAL-i is an over-the-counter (OTC) combination antipyretic and analgesic developed by Nippon Zoki Pharmaceutical. It is formulated as a small, flower-shaped tablet designed to be easy to swallow and gentle on the stomach. The medication contains a synergistic combination of three active ingredients: ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and anhydrous caffeine. Ibuprofen acts as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that targets pain and inflammation at the source, while acetaminophen acts centrally to block pain signals and reduce fever. Anhydrous caffeine is included as an adjuvant to enhance the analgesic efficacy of the other two components. RUNAL-i is approved in Japan for the relief of various types of pain, including menstrual pain (period pain), headache, backache, and muscle pain, as well as for reducing fever.
