Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Runchang Ningshen Cream is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by Shuguang Hospital, which is affiliated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is specifically formulated as an oral herbal paste (Gaofang) rather than a topical cream, despite the common translation of 'Gao' as cream or ointment. The preparation is primarily indicated for the treatment of functional constipation, particularly in elderly patients or those whose condition is complicated by 'spirit' agitation, such as insomnia or anxiety. Its therapeutic mechanism is based on TCM principles of moistening the intestines to facilitate bowel movements (Run Chang) and calming the nerves to stabilize the mind (Ning Shen). It is a regulated hospital-made preparation approved for use within the developer's clinical network in China.
