Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RUNX3 antisense oligonucleotide is an experimental antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) designed to target and inhibit the expression of Runt-related transcription factor 3 (RUNX3). Developed by researchers at Boston Children's Hospital, this therapeutic agent is being investigated for its potential to treat chronic inflammatory joint diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. RUNX3 is a key transcription factor involved in the convergent differentiation pathway of tissue-resident memory T cells (TRM) in the synovium. By blocking RUNX3 expression, the ASO prevents the formation of synovial TRM from circulating effector memory T cells (TEM) and central memory T cells (TCM), thereby reducing joint inflammation and preventing arthritis flares.
