Overview
Runzao zhiyang capsule (RZZYC) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by Guizhou Tongjitang Pharmaceutical for the treatment of inflammatory skin disorders, including chronic eczema, atopic dermatitis, and plaque psoriasis. Formulated according to TCM theory to 'moisten dryness' (Runzao) and 'relieve itching' (Zhiyang), it is used to alleviate symptoms such as erythema, pruritus, papules, and xeransis. Clinical studies, including Phase 4 trials, have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) scores and improving patient quality of life, showing comparable or superior results to some conventional treatments with a favorable safety profile. It is often used as a standalone therapy or in combination with antihistamines like mizolastine.
