Overview

Runzaoyin is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Xiyuan Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is specifically formulated to treat primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS), an autoimmune condition characterized by dry eyes and mouth. Within the framework of TCM, Runzaoyin is targeted at patients presenting with the "spleen deficiency and fluid deficiency" syndrome pattern. The formula is designed to tonify the spleen, nourish Yin, and moisten dryness to restore exocrine gland function and alleviate systemic dryness. It is currently undergoing clinical evaluation to establish its efficacy and safety as a standardized therapeutic intervention for autoimmune-related sicca symptoms.
