Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ruscus extract + hesperidin methyl chalcone + ascorbic acid is a fixed-dose combination therapy used primarily as a venotonic and vasculoprotective agent for the treatment of chronic venous disease (CVD) and hemorrhoidal symptoms. Developed by Pierre Fabre Laboratories, the formulation leverages three synergistic components: **Ruscus extract** (from *Ruscus aculeatus*), which contains ruscogenins that act as agonists at post-junctional alpha-1 and alpha-2 adrenergic receptors on venous smooth muscle cells to increase venous tone; **hesperidin methyl chalcone**, a flavonoid that reduces capillary permeability and improves microcirculation; and **ascorbic acid** (Vitamin C), which serves as a cofactor for collagen synthesis, thereby enhancing capillary resistance and protecting vascular endothelium from oxidative stress. The combination is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with venous-lymphatic insufficiency, such as heavy legs, pain, and nocturnal cramps.
