Overview

RUT058-60 is a synthetic small molecule drug developed for use as an adjunctive therapy to prophylactic systemic antibiotics, primarily intended to prevent surgical site infections, particularly deep incisional and organ/space infections following abdominal surgery. It was investigated as an intra-cavity lavage (irrigation solution) applied during surgery. The drug underwent Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials to evaluate its safety, efficacy, and skin irritation potential when used on abraded or non-abraded skin. Its development has been discontinued[1][4][5].
