Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rutin trihydrate is a flavonoid glycoside and the trihydrate form of rutin (rutoside), a compound found in various plants such as buckwheat, citrus fruits, and apples. It is composed of the aglycone quercetin and the disaccharide rutinose. Rutin trihydrate is primarily utilized for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and vasoprotective properties. It functions by scavenging free radicals, inhibiting enzymes like hyaluronidase and cyclooxygenase, and strengthening capillary walls, thereby reducing vascular permeability and fragility. It is commonly used in the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency, hemorrhoids, and other conditions related to impaired microcirculation. Allastir offers rutin trihydrate as a generic active pharmaceutical ingredient (API).
