ruxotemitide

ruxotemitide (VP-315) is a first-in-class oncolytic peptide immunotherapy being developed by Verrica Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of dermatologic oncology indications, primarily basal cell carcinoma. Derived from research on host defense peptides, ruxotemitide is administered intratumorally to induce immunogenic tumor cell death. Its mechanism of action involves the lysis of intracellular organelles, specifically mitochondria, within tumor cells. This process releases a broad spectrum of tumor-specific antigens, which subsequently promotes a systemic T-cell-mediated anti-tumor immune response. Verrica licensed the compound from Lytix Biopharma and is currently evaluating it in Phase 2 clinical trials for non-melanoma skin cancers.
