Overview

Ruzavir (AT-281) is a small molecule nonstructural protein 5A (NS5A) inhibitor developed by Atea Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. NS5A is a multifunctional phosphoprotein essential for HCV RNA replication and virion assembly. Ruzavir is designed as a potent, pan-genotypic agent with a high barrier to resistance, often studied in combination with the nucleotide prodrug bemnifosbuvir (AT-527). The combination therapy aims to provide a short-duration, interferon-free, and ribavirin-free treatment option for patients with various HCV genotypes, including those with baseline resistance-associated substitutions (RASs).
