Ruzurgi

**Ruzurgi** is the brand name for **amifampridine**, an orally administered small-molecule potassium channel blocker developed by **Jacobus Pharmaceutical** for **Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome**. Amifampridine prolongs presynaptic depolarization by blocking voltage-gated potassium channels at the motor nerve terminal, which enhances calcium influx and increases acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction. Ruzurgi was approved in the United States for pediatric patients aged 6 to less than 17 years with LEMS, although subsequent orphan-drug exclusivity litigation limited its commercial position relative to Firdapse. The product has also been subject to a recalled 10 mg tablet lot due to microbial contamination.
