RV 2457C is a high-protection sunscreen milk developed for the prevention of photoinduced skin lesions in patients with chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CCLE). It provides broad-spectrum photoprotection against both ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation, which are known triggers for the induction and exacerbation of cutaneous lesions in lupus patients. The product was evaluated in a Phase 3 clinical trial (NCT00470912) led by Heinrich-Heine University, Duesseldorf, specifically targeting patients with a history of positive provocative phototesting. The study aimed to assess the efficacy of the sunscreen in preventing UV-induced exacerbations across various forms of the disease, including discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE), subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE), and lupus erythematosus tumidus (LET).
