RVK100

RVK100 is an unclassified, apathogenic strain of rotavirus being investigated as a potential oncolytic virus therapy. Research conducted by the National Medical Research Centre for Oncology in Russia indicates that RVK100 possesses immunomodulatory properties, specifically affecting the expression of immune checkpoint molecules on T-cells. In studies involving peripheral blood mononuclear cells from breast cancer patients, RVK100 was shown to initially stimulate the expression of PD-1 and PD-L1 on CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells, followed by a significant reduction in PD-1 expression after 72 hours. This suggests a potential role in overcoming immune exhaustion or enhancing the anti-tumor immune response through the modulation of the PD-1/PD-L1 axis.
