Overview

rVSV∆G-SEBOV-GP is a recombinant viral vector vaccine candidate developed by IAVI in partnership with GSK for the prevention of Sudan virus disease (SVD). The vaccine utilizes a replication-competent vesicular stomatitis virus (rVSV) platform, similar to the technology used in the approved Ervebo vaccine for Zaire ebolavirus. In this construct, the native glycoprotein (G) of the VSV vector is deleted and replaced with the glycoprotein (GP) of the Sudan ebolavirus (SEBOV). Upon administration, the vector expresses the SEBOV-GP antigen to induce protective humoral and cellular immune responses against the Sudan virus. The candidate is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation to assess its safety and immunogenicity.
