**rVSV-VEEV** is an investigational **viral vector vaccine** based on an attenuated recombinant vesicular stomatitis virus backbone engineered to express the **Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus** surface glycoproteins **E2 and E1**. Its intended mechanism is to present VEEV envelope antigens in vivo and induce protective humoral immune responses, especially neutralizing antibodies against VEEV, thereby preventing Venezuelan equine encephalitis after exposure. Published preclinical work describes this construct as part of a research-stage effort to develop single-dose vaccines against encephalitic alphaviruses; in mouse challenge models, attenuated rVSV vectors expressing VEEV E2/E1 glycoproteins showed protective activity against lethal VEEV challenge. The program appears to be a preclinical vaccine candidate rather than an approved product, and no specific commercial brand name or clinical-stage development program was clearly identifiable from the available evidence.
