rVV-740CTA is a non-replicating recombinant vaccinia virus-based therapeutic cancer vaccine developed by Universitätsspital Basel. It is engineered to express cancer/testis antigens and the costimulatory molecules CD80 and CD40L, aiming to enhance immune activation against tumor cells. The vaccine acts as a modulator of both CD40 ligand (CD40L) and cluster of differentiation 80 (CD80), thereby stimulating antigen-presenting cells and promoting robust T cell-mediated anti-tumor responses. Its primary indication was breast cancer, with additional relevance for neoplasms and skin/musculoskeletal diseases. Clinical development reached phase 1 but was discontinued[1][2][3].
