RVX-001

RVX-001 is a preclinical-stage recombinant protein vaccine candidate developed by ReNewVax for the prevention of diseases caused by *Streptococcus pneumoniae* (pneumococcus). Unlike traditional pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs) that target a limited number of capsular polysaccharide serotypes, RVX-001 utilizes conserved protein antigens found across all known serotypes of the bacterium. This approach is intended to provide universal protection and circumvent the issue of serotype replacement, where non-vaccine serotypes emerge to cause disease. The program is currently being evaluated for the prevention of pneumonia, septicaemia, and meningitis.
