Overview

RVX-sCPD9 is a live-attenuated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine candidate developed by RocketVax AG, a subsidiary of Swiss Rockets AG. The vaccine utilizes codon pair deoptimization technology to create a weakened version of the virus that remains capable of inducing a robust immune response without causing disease. It is designed for intranasal, needle-free administration, which allows it to stimulate mucosal immunity in the upper respiratory tract—the primary entry point for the virus—as well as systemic immunity. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in neutralizing multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants, including Beta, Delta, and Omicron. The candidate has been selected for Phase 1 clinical evaluation as part of the U.S. NIH's Project NextGen initiative, with the goal of providing broad, long-lasting protection and potentially reducing the incidence of Long-COVID.
