RVX101

RVX101 is a live-attenuated vaccine candidate originally developed by Rational Vaccines for the treatment and prevention of Herpes Simplex Virus type 1 (HSV-1) infections. The vaccine is based on a mutant strain of the virus that is deficient in the ICP0 (infected cell protein 0) gene. This modification is intended to render the virus unable to establish latency or cause disease while remaining capable of stimulating a broad and robust immune response. Development of the program was discontinued following significant regulatory and ethical controversies regarding the company's clinical trial conduct, specifically involving unsanctioned human testing in St. Kitts.
