RWQWRWQWR-Ahx-KLALKLALK is a synthetic hybrid peptide designed for the treatment of cervical cancer. It consists of a palindromic core sequence (RWQWRWQWR) derived from bovine lactoferricin (LfcinB) conjugated via a 6-aminohexanoic acid (Ahx) spacer to a cell-penetrating peptide (KLALKLALK). Developed by researchers in Colombia, the peptide exerts a rapid, concentration-dependent cytotoxic effect against cervical cancer cell lines such as HeLa and Ca Ski. Its mechanism of action involves initial electrostatic interactions between the positively charged arginine and lysine residues and the negatively charged components of the cancer cell surface, followed by membrane disruption or internalization to induce cell death.
