RXI-185 is a self-delivering small interfering RNA (siRNA) compound developed by Phio Pharmaceuticals. It specifically targets and silences the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP1), an enzyme involved in the breakdown of collagen in the skin. By inhibiting MMP1, RXI-185 aims to slow or prevent ultraviolet radiation (UVR)-induced collagen degradation, thereby improving or slowing the progression of skin thickening, loss of elasticity, and wrinkles associated with photo-aging and other age-related skin disorders.
