Overview

Ryngo 1-23 is a small molecule dynamin activator that stimulates actin-dependent dynamin oligomerization and promotes dynamin GTPase activity. Despite its role as an activator of the dynamin protein, it paradoxically functions as an inhibitor of clathrin-mediated endocytosis (CME), specifically blocking the uptake of transferrin in cells such as dendritic cells. It is primarily utilized as a research tool to investigate the mechanisms of membrane fission and vesicle trafficking. Chemically, it is a bis-tyrphostin derivative and is available as a research reagent.
