Overview
Ryokeijutsukanto is a traditional Japanese Kampo medicine (a standardized herbal extract) composed of four botanical ingredients: Poria Sclerotium (Bukuryo), Cinnamomi Cortex (Keihi), Atractylodis Lanceae Rhizoma (Sojutsu), and Glycyrrhizae Radix (Kanzou). It is primarily used to treat symptoms associated with fluid disturbances (suidoku) in traditional medicine, including dizziness, vertigo, palpitations, and headache. In modern clinical practice in Japan, it is an ethical Kampo formulation (prescription drug) often prescribed for Meniere's disease, orthostatic dysregulation, and various forms of dizziness. The drug is thought to work by regulating water metabolism, potentially through the modulation of aquaporin channels, and by stabilizing the autonomic nervous system.
