RZ-520

RZ-520 is a small molecule, highly selective inhibitor of Rho-associated protein kinase 2 (ROCK2) being developed by Ningkang Xiaowei Biopharmaceutical for the treatment of interstitial lung disease (ILD). ROCK2 is a key regulator of the actin cytoskeleton and is involved in various cellular processes, including myofibroblast differentiation, collagen synthesis, and inflammatory cytokine production. By selectively inhibiting ROCK2, RZ-520 aims to modulate the pro-fibrotic and pro-inflammatory signaling pathways associated with ILD. The drug is administered via nebulized inhalation, which facilitates direct delivery to the lungs, potentially enhancing local efficacy and reducing systemic exposure. It is currently undergoing first-in-human Phase I clinical trials to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers.
