This refers to the chemotherapy component of a novel treatment protocol (NIPS) being investigated by Daping Hospital and the Research Institute of Surgery of the Third Military Medical University (Army Medical University). The protocol evaluates the safety and efficacy of combining systemic chemotherapy—consisting of either the SOX regimen (S-1 plus oxaliplatin) or the CAPOX regimen (capecitabine plus oxaliplatin)—with low-dose radiotherapy (LDRT) and the PD-1 inhibitor tislelizumab. This specific approach is targeted at patients with peritoneal metastasis from gastric or colorectal cancers. S-1 and capecitabine are oral fluoropyrimidines that act as antimetabolites, while oxaliplatin is a platinum-based agent that induces DNA damage through the formation of cross-links. In this study, oxaliplatin is administered both intravenously and intraperitoneally to maximize local and systemic control.
