Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Arm B refers to the control treatment arm in the Phase II clinical trial NCT06061146, conducted by Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital. This regimen consists of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) for elderly patients (≥70 years) with inoperable locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The pharmacological component is S-1 (also known as Tigio), an oral fluoropyrimidine combination drug containing tegafur (a prodrug of 5-fluorouracil), gimeracil (a dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase inhibitor that increases 5-FU concentration), and oteracil (which reduces gastrointestinal toxicity). This is administered concurrently with radiotherapy (typically 50.4 Gy in 28 fractions). The regimen serves as the standard-of-care comparator against Arm A, which evaluates the addition of the PD-1 inhibitor tislelizumab to this backbone.
