Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**S-2P-NE-01** is an investigational intranasal protein-subunit vaccine candidate for prevention of COVID-19. It combines Medigen Vaccine Biologics' prefusion-stabilized SARS-CoV-2 spike protein antigen, S-2P, with BlueWillow Biologics' NE01 NanoVax oil-in-water nanoemulsion adjuvant. Intranasal administration is designed to elicit systemic neutralizing-antibody and cellular immune responses as well as mucosal immunity, including respiratory IgA responses, with the goal of reducing upper-airway viral replication, infection, and transmission. Preclinical mouse and hamster studies reported protective immune responses and reduced SARS-CoV-2-associated disease following viral challenge.
