Drug intelligence / Profile preview
S-idazoxan is an enantiomerically pure form of idazoxan, a small molecule that functions as a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor antagonist and an imidazoline receptor modulator. Developed by Terran Biosciences, an extended-release formulation (TR-01-XRS) is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials to address the short half-life of the racemic compound and enable once-daily dosing. It is being investigated for its potential therapeutic effects in neurological and psychiatric diseases, including schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease.
