S100A4 shRNA is an experimental research construct designed to silence the expression of the S100A4 gene (also known as Mts1) through RNA interference (RNAi). S100A4 is a calcium-binding protein that plays a critical role in promoting cancer metastasis, cell migration, invasion, and survival. The shRNA is typically delivered into target cells using lentiviral vectors or plasmid expression systems. In preclinical studies, S100A4 shRNA has demonstrated the ability to inhibit tumor growth and metastasis in various malignancies, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML), colorectal cancer, and non-small cell lung cancer. In AML, silencing S100A4 has been shown to induce apoptosis by upregulating NCOA7 and activating V-ATPase-mediated cytoplasmic acidification. It is primarily used as a laboratory tool by academic researchers and does not currently have a commercial developer or regulatory approval.
