Overview

S100A4 siRNA is a class of small interfering RNA (siRNA) research reagents designed to knock down the expression of the S100A4 gene (also known as metastasin or Mts1) through RNA interference (RNAi). S100A4 is a calcium-binding protein that is frequently overexpressed in highly metastatic cancers and is implicated in tumor invasion, angiogenesis, and metastasis. In research settings, S100A4 siRNA is used to study the role of this protein in various cancers, including pancreatic, hepatocellular, prostate, and lung cancers, as well as in fibrotic diseases and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). While it is not an approved therapeutic drug, it is widely used as a laboratory tool, with commercial versions such as SignalSilence S100A4 siRNA produced by Cell Signaling Technology.
