S1P1 receptor modulator (Pepscan Systems) is a peptide-based drug candidate developed using Pepscan's proprietary Chemical Linkage of Peptides onto Scaffolds (CLIPS) technology. It is designed to target the sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1 (S1P1R), a G protein-coupled receptor that plays a critical role in the egress of lymphocytes from the thymus and secondary lymphoid organs. By modulating S1P1R, the peptide aims to sequester lymphocytes within lymph nodes, thereby preventing their infiltration into target tissues and reducing the inflammatory response associated with autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease. As a peptide modality, it offers potential advantages in specificity and reduced off-target effects compared to small-molecule S1P1 modulators.
