Overview

S26E is a topical therapeutic extract derived from Kalahari melon (*Citrullus lanatus*) seed oil, currently under investigation by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens for the treatment of chronic, non-infected diabetic foot ulcers. The extract is rich in essential fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid, as well as antioxidants and phytosterols, which are believed to promote wound closure through anti-inflammatory effects and the enhancement of the skin's barrier function. In clinical studies, S26E is applied daily to the ulcer site in conjunction with standard-of-care practices such as debridement and off-loading to accelerate the healing process in neuropathic and neuroischemic patients.
