S2GΔHR2-presenting I3-01v9 1c-SApNP is an experimental **protein subunit nanoparticle COVID-19 vaccine** developed from the self-assembling protein nanoparticle platform associated with Ufovax and invented at Scripps Research. It displays a rationally stabilized SARS-CoV-2 spike immunogen, S2GΔHR2, on the multilayered I3-01v9 single-component self-assembling protein nanoparticle scaffold to enhance multivalent antigen presentation. The spike design replaces the conventional S2P stabilizing motif with a double-glycine substitution and deletes the HR2 stalk to reduce spike metastability, while nanoparticle display is intended to improve germinal center responses, neutralizing antibody generation, and T-cell immunity. Published preclinical studies in mice reported stronger neutralizing antibody responses for the I3-01v9 nanoparticle construct than soluble spike comparators, supporting its evaluation as a next-generation prophylactic vaccine candidate for COVID-19.
