SA-10

SA-10 is a dual-acting hybrid small molecule designed for neuroprotection in the context of glaucoma and other retinal degenerative diseases. It combines the properties of a reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger and a nitric oxide (NO) donor within a single chemical entity. This dual mechanism is intended to combat oxidative stress and improve ocular hemodynamics, thereby protecting retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) from injury caused by ischemia/reperfusion, neurotrophic factor deprivation, and oxidative damage. To enhance its therapeutic potential, SA-10 has been formulated as a poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanosuspension, which aims to provide sustained delivery and improved stability for ophthalmic applications.
