Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SA-85 is a preclinical-stage peptide-based vaccine candidate being developed by the University of Southern Mississippi and the Georgia Institute of Technology for the immunotherapy of Chagas disease, a life-threatening illness caused by the parasite *Trypanosoma cruzi*. The vaccine consists of three immunogenic peptides (TS-1, TS-2, and TS-3) derived from the conserved *T. cruzi* trans-sialidase SA-85 surface protein. These peptides are displayed on Q-Beta bacteriophage virus-like particles (VLPs) and administered with the AddaS03 adjuvant. In preclinical mouse models, immunization with SA-85 elicits a strong humoral response with anti-SA-85 IgG antibodies and a Th1-biased cellular immune response characterized by elevated levels of IFN-\u03b3, TNF-\u03b1, and Granzyme B.
