Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SA-IL-10 is an engineered recombinant fusion protein consisting of interleukin-10 (IL-10) fused to serum albumin (SA). It was developed to address the short plasma half-life and poor tissue retention of wild-type IL-10, particularly in secondary lymphoid organs (SLOs) where immune priming occurs. By extending circulation and enhancing accumulation in SLOs, SA-IL-10 promotes immunoregulation, suppresses pathogenic TH17 cells and pro-inflammatory myeloid cells, and expands immunoregulatory M2-like macrophages and checkpoint-expressing TH2 cells. SA-IL-10 has demonstrated therapeutic potential in preclinical models of rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis (experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis), and macrophage activation syndrome (MAS).
