SA100

SA100 is an orally administered herbal therapeutic developed at Stanford University for the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC). The drug was initiated by Julie Saiki, a PhD student in Chemical and Systems Biology, and developed in collaboration with Stanford's inflammatory bowel disease program. SA100 is intended for patients with mild-to-severe UC, particularly those who have failed 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) treatment but have not yet progressed to more intensive immunosuppressive or biologic therapies. It has been evaluated in a Phase 1b open-label, dose-escalation study to assess safety and preliminary efficacy over an 8-week treatment period. While the treatment is based on traditional medicine practices used for centuries, its specific active botanical components and biological targets remain undisclosed.
