Overview

SA1211 is a first-in-class, dual-targeting small interfering RNA (siRNA) dimer, conjugated with N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc), being developed for the potential functional cure of chronic hepatitis B. SA1211 directly silences hepatitis B virus (HBV) gene expression and potently suppresses viral replication via inhibition of HBX (hepatitis B virus X protein) and, additionally, inhibits programmed death-ligand 1 (PDL1). This simultaneous action both eradicates the virus and activates the acquired immune response, which may prevent viral rebound following treatment discontinuation. Developed by Suzhou Siran Biotechnology, SA1211 is currently in late preclinical development.
