SA53-OS is an investigational, orally administered small molecule inhibitor of MDM2, developed by Lamassu Biotech (also referred to as Lamassu Pharma or Lamassu Bio). The drug is designed to selectively inhibit the MDM2 protein, a key negative regulator of the tumor suppressor gene p53. By blocking MDM2, SA53-OS aims to activate p53 in tumors with wild-type (functional) p53, leading to tumor cell death and inhibition of cancer growth. This targeted approach seeks to provide a less toxic alternative to conventional chemotherapy for patients with advanced or metastatic solid tumors that retain functional p53. SA53-OS is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2a clinical trials for safety and preliminary efficacy in patients with refractory solid tumors and dedifferentiated liposarcoma[1][3][5][7][8].
