Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SA55 is a broad-spectrum neutralizing monoclonal antibody developed for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. It targets the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein, acting as a modulator to neutralize the virus. The drug has been formulated both as an injection and as a nasal spray. Clinical trials have demonstrated favorable pharmacokinetics, with a half-life of approximately 103 days following injection and potential utility in preventing COVID-19 infection[1][3][6]. The antibody was initially developed by Peking University and is being further developed by companies including Sinovac Biotech, Shandong Kexing Bioproducts, and Beijing Kexing Zhongwei Biotechnology[4][5][6]. As of April 2025, SA55 has reached Phase 2 clinical trials for COVID-19 indications[4][6].
