Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SA58 Nasal Spray is a pharmaceutical product containing the monoclonal antibody SA58 as its active ingredient. It is a broad-spectrum neutralizing antibody designed to target and neutralize SARS-CoV-2, including multiple Omicron subvariants. The drug acts by binding to the spike glycoprotein (S) of SARS-CoV-2, thereby preventing viral entry into host cells. Developed for intranasal administration, it provides localized protection in the nasal mucosa—the primary site of viral entry—making it suitable for both pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis against COVID-19. Clinical studies have demonstrated that SA58 Nasal Spray significantly reduces the incidence of symptomatic COVID-19 among exposed individuals and healthcare workers, with reported efficacy rates up to approximately 80%. The safety profile is favorable; most adverse events are mild and transient (e.g., runny nose, dryness). The product was developed by Sinovac Life Sciences.
